Rose La Grua's SS15 Collection at LA Fashion Council, Maker City LA

Floral Beauty, Raw, Organic, and Feminine | An LA Designer's take on Spring Style Designer Rose La Grua presented her label That's Totally Fine's "I'll Never Tell" SS15 Collection with LA Fashion Council a couple weeks ago at Maker City LA. I first experienced Rose La Grua's designs last season during LAFC's Media Preview for Fall/Winter 2014 collections. What is striking and the most intriguing about La Grua's designs are the innovative ways her pieces look constructed and can be re-configured, as well as the variety of shapes that she creates. For her SS15 Collection she played on the function and placement of slim pockets to place flower stems into, which created a refreshing and decorative way to showcase the natural beauty of spring. Beautiful roses seemed to glide down the runway as they poked out from pockets at the hem of dresses and coats; baby's breath seemed to create an aura as it extended from a model's shoulders and back. A new take on the traditional 'long johns' thermal underwear was presented as a dress or jumper with funky cut outs. Other eye-catching details included gauze like pants, dark denim-looking shorts, and a romantic blouse, all with fabric ties down the leg or across the chest. La Grua also presented pieces with an almost raw feel with unfinished hems, and a very impressive finale piece of chambray looking squares all linked together by chains to create a dress. I'm always in awe of Rose La Grua's designs and I can't wait for next season (I'm hoping to get to shoot this collection for Alpha Omega Magazine!)

Fun Nights Out's Roaring 20s Casino Night Fundraiser, Essex Skyline

You may have seen all over my social handles and in a previous post that I got to dress up for a roaring 20s themed fundraising event at the Essex Skyline, hosted by Fun Nights Out to benefit the American Cancer Society. The night was filled with the glitz and glamour of a 'Great Gatsby' soiree; filled with food, drinks, flapper dancers from Bling Divas Entertainment, casino games, a photobooth and amazing raffle prizes. Organized by Creative Director Yanitza along with Soyla, and Molly; the night was not only fun for the attendees but included a special and personal touch when Yanitza shared her story of her brother who had cancer and had passed; which led her to want to create the productions company 'Fun Nights Out' and be able to donate to amazing organizations like the American Cancer Society, as well as promote everyone both male and female to get annual exams. MAC Heirloom Mix, South Coast Plaza

MAC Cosmetics' Holiday Collection Launch

M.A.C Cosmetics hosted a media preview of their new holiday collection, Heirloom Mix, at South Coast Plaza on Halloween morning last week. M.A.C cosmetics senior artist Cynthia Rivas kicked off the Southern Californian debut of the holiday collection which featured models and dancers that performed a very 'Vogue' inspired dance and movement series with a DJ throughout the preview; while guests checked out the Heirloom Mix products and had the chance to have their make up done by M.A.C. artists.
I love the opulent and aristocratic air to the collection; the models donned a Marie Antoinette regal likeliness to them with their powdered 'poufs', enchanting shimmery eyes, and inviting lip colors, as well as their brocade-like dresses and necks dripping in pearls and a prominent Cameo gem.
Shop the Heirloom Mix collection here! I received the M.A.C. Keepsakes/Plum Eyes palette, and can't wait to use the palette for the holiday season!
