Exclusive Interview with Deanna of KYSS Bracelets

Chatting with the darn cutest bracelet designer & founder of KYSS (Keep Your Soul Sweet)

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Deanna of KYSS bracelets last year to chat all about her passion for beaded bracelets over delicious bites and of course while sorting through beads and bracelets to create my very own, exclusive FFF bracelet set! 1. What inspired you to start KYSS Bracelets (can also explain what KYSS means here) and the designs that you create? I've always been inspired to start/create something of my own in the fashion realm. Since I am so young, I'm constantly exposed to so many cute accessories, clothes, and jewelry in my daily life, so I decided to start my work of art by creating unique and fun jewelry. I call it my line of inspiration. KYSS stands for "Keep Your Soul Sweet," so wearing KYSS everyday is a daily reminder to "keep your soul sweet."

2. What are you favorite types of stones/beads to work with? This is a tough question! I LOVE all the beads! Since I am so new to jewelry making, I haven't picked a top favorite that I love working with. I have a few favorites. My main choice of beads to use are gemstones. Almost all the bracelets are made of precious gemstones. I love working with all the fun types of gemstones there are, one of my favorites are the riverstone beads because they have this cream color infused with all the bead colors so it makes all the beads have this natural color look.

3. What makes KYSS Bracelets different from other bracelet brands/jewelry? KYSS is unique because of the meaning behind it. When you start something of your own, or do something in life and prosper from it, you always wants to remain humble. When I first started my line, and was thinking of names for my line I wanted something with a meaning to it, and I was messing around with acronyms...KYSS stuck immediately. I always think that above all else in life, you need to "Keep Your Soul Sweet." So ladies can walk around feeling good about themselves in KYSS, while having a fun and unique arm party!

4. Describe a day in your shoes...A typical day in my shoes can be summed up by "from when I open my eyes, to when I close my eyes." I am a full time college student who wants to make it all happen! I attend CSULB, work a ton, and every minute and break I get, I am constantly beading, and coming up with new designs, searching for new beads, and creating my work.

5. What's your favorite place to visit? My favorite place to visit is Maui, Hawaii. Whenever I get a vacation, that is my choice of preference. It's where I feel the most relaxed, and that's what everyone needs in life every now and then.

6. When I am not making bracelets, I am_______________...I am searching and ordering new beads!!

7. Where do you see yourself and your brand in 5 years? In 5 years, I really hope to see my brand in a ton of boutiques, hopefully ones out of state as well! I also hope to have my necklace ideas as a part of my line as well.

8. Any fun facts about yourself? I am a Disneyland addict. I've owned a pass for three years...I'm 20 years old. I don't think anyone can ever be too old for Disneyland! It really is the happiest place on earth!

9.What's your favorite movie? food? fashion trend? My favorite movie is a: A Walk To Remember... Favorite Food: Crab! Fashion trend: I have an obsession with finding super rad and different booties.

10. Anything else you want to include! I'm so excited to have my bracelets carried in Andrew Murray Winery Boutique, Miyamo Boutique (Napa Valley), Elison Rd. (Belmont Shore), and The Denim Bar (Los Alamitos)!
