Sauri FW15 at LA Fashion Council Collection Showings

Known for his signature skate and street style aesthetic, LA designer Kyle Awtry presented his SAURI FW15 collection at LA Fashion Council. The collection was filled with simple denim and chambray pieces, as well as lace layers and loungewear-like clothing. The line was made for 'that every cool girl from Venice to Downtown, skateboard or no skateboard, wants to wear right now'. My favorite piece was the denim maxi dress that had an interesting cut out and neckline. Most of the other pieces were casual with a conceptual touch from Awtry. Pull over jackets and sweatershirts were made a bit more appealing with fabric mixing, but I felt as if some of the bottoms were ill-fitting on the models. See the Sauri SS15 Collection here and other LAFC collections I've posted about so far.

ZALEZ STUDIO FW 14/15 RTW capsule collection

DTLA Fashion & Art Scene
The totally rad Zalez Studio presented their Fall/Winter 14/15 Ready-to-Wear Capsule Collection with visual art projections by Akiko Yamashita, at their storefront in Downtown LA last Thursday. Design team Joab Zalez and Rafael Mercado stayed true to their unique style of vinyl and paneled pieces of fur, mesh, and reflective elements, but added small changes such as lining inside paneled or sheer/mesh pieces and adding more of a 'street' look such as the men's red vinyl track-like jacket. My favorite pieces were the white cold shoulder top, iridescent coat, voluminous-sleeved maxi dress (paired with a black/white faux fur vest), and a men's oversized collared coat (I tried it on but it's just too big, I love how it feels like a cocoon though).  See past seasons coverage here.

Eva Franco SS15 Collection at LA Fashion Council, Maker City LA

I've worn a beautiful Eva Franco dress for a television segment before, and was so excited to see what Eva has in store for Spring/Summer 2015. Eva's designs have been featured in numerous publications and seen on many celebrities; and is carried in 800 stores nationally and internationally. Known for her sophisticated and elegant designs celebrating the female form; the lines she creates are classic and feminine, flattering for any female shape; and some reminiscent of retro silhouettes. It was intriguing to see how certain textiles were carried out in a different designs, as well as the use of a range of elements such as lace, sequins, and structured to soft fabrics. What's your favorite?
