Sania Josiah SS15 Collection at LA Fashion Council, MakerCity LA
Los Angeles Fashion Council's Open Runway emerging design winner Sania Josiah was awarded a spot in LAFC's SS15 collections line up at Maker City LA in the Reef Building (Downtown LA). Josiah made her LA fashion week debut with a West African inspired collection which featured a rich color palette and patterns, detailed panel work, and an array of textures from mesh to leather. Some looks showcased more of a street wear silhouette with shirt dresses, tees, and joggers; and other designs more fitting to a womens' curves with pencil skirts and peplum tops. Read Josiah's collection synopsis below:
"It all started out as a project for school. Slowing but surely, one creation after the next, it all cohesively came together. My creative process is very unpredictable and shocking at the same time.
My collection has an Afrocentric and ethnical vibe, with mixer of textiles coming together in construction to create something appealing to the eye. This collection is my introduction as an emerging designer who translates unique beauty through fabrication and construction details. The best thing about my pieces is that, it is created from every woman with a sense of style and confidence"
